Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to my FAQ page. Here are answers to some of the questions I'm often asked. If yours isn't listed, please feel free to get in touch - I'm always happy to help.

About Your Keepsake

Is only my hair used?
Absolutely - your keepsake is made exclusively from the sample you provide. No blends or substitutes, ever.
Can you combine hair from more than one horse?
Yes! Blending hair from multiple horses can create beautiful, multi-toned braids or tassels that tell your unique story.
Do you return unused samples?
Always. Any unused hair or fur will be returned to you with your finished keepsake, unless you ask me not to.
Will my keepsake look exactly like the photos?
Every keepsake is individually handcrafted from the hair or fur you send. Because hair is a natural material, there may be subtle variations in colour, thickness, or braid texture. These differences are part of what make your keepsake truly unique - no two pieces will ever be the same.
Do you ship overseas?
Yes- I ship worldwide. Please note that customs duties may apply in your country.

Sending Hair or Fur

How long do I have to send my sample?
Please send your hair or fur sample within 5 days of placing your order. This helps me create your keepsake within the standard 10-14 day crafting time and ensures your payment can be processed smoothly.
How much hair do I need?
Tail Hair (Horse or Pony): At least 43 cm (17") - enough to wrap around your wrist twice and about as thick as your thumb - for all braided items (bracelets, necklaces, keychains).

Tail Hair (Donkey): Naturally shorter, finer, and less abundant than horse hair - not suitable for braided keepsakes, but perfect for a tail hair tassel. Please send as much as you can spare.

Mane or Forelock Hair: Ideal for tassels when tail hair is limited - send as much as possible.

Tassels: Ideally, send the same amount as for a bracelet. Standard length is 14 cm (subject to hair length supplied), but can be trimmed once returned. If your hair is shorter or finer, I'll still use every strand - nothing is wasted.
How much pet fur / ashes do I need?
I've crafted keepsakes with just a single strand, but typically around a teaspoon's worth gives the best results. Only a small pinch is needed for resin keepsakes - and pale or very light hairs may appear slightly translucent once set in resin. This is a natural effect that gives a soft, delicate finish.
Do you wash the hair?
Yes - I wash and prepare all horse/donkey hair upon arrival. (Note: I do not wash pet hair.)
Can I drop off my sample locally?
Of course - you're welcome to drop off your hair or fur in person. Just get in touch to arrange. Location is Bury, Manchester.
What if my sample gets lost in the post?
I recommend sending your sample in a sealed bag using a padded envelope via a tracked service and keeping a small portion back. While losses are rare, this ensures you have a backup if needed.

Delivery, Care & Support

How long will my order take?
My standard turnaround is 10-14 working days from when I receive your sample. If you need your keepsake sooner, please let me know and I'll do my best to help.
What if I need my keepsake for a special date?
Let me know your deadline when you order, and I'll confirm whether I can meet it. I'll always do my best to accommodate urgent requests.
I've ordered a keepsake and entered my card details, but I've changed my mind. What happens now?
No worries at all, I completely understand that plans can change. Your card details are securely captured at checkout, but you won't be charged until your keepsake is complete and ready to return home. If you've changed your mind before sending in your hair sample, simply get in touch and I'll cancel your order with no charge. If your sample has already arrived, just message me as soon as possible so we can discuss next steps.
What if I'm not happy with my keepsake?
Your keepsake is deeply personal, and I want you to feel completely happy with it. If something isn't quite right, please get in touch within 7 days of receiving your order and I'll do everything I can to make it right - whether that's a small adjustment, repair, or a full remake (where possible).

Please note: Each keepsake is permanently crafted with soldered sterling silver joins, meaning once the piece is complete, it can't be taken apart or reworked. If you're unhappy and we decide a remake is the best option, I can start again only if there's enough hair or fur remaining. Unfortunately, I can't reuse material from a finished piece.
Do you offer repairs or replacements?
Yes - if your jewellery needs repair or you'd like adjustments, I'm happy to help. Please get in touch with details and I'll provide pricing and options.
How should I care for my jewellery?
To keep your keepsake looking its best:
• Avoid exposure to water, perfumes, and harsh chemicals
• Gently polish silver parts with a soft cloth
• Store in a dry, shaded place when not worn
